Rob joined Optiscan in August 2001. He started his career at Telstra Research Laboratories as a photonics researcher. Research activities in the fields of miniature bulk optic devices, fabrication of new photonic integrated circuit components, and the exploitation of novel optical glasses were undertaken. His work lead to several Australian and international patents being awarded. Restructuring resulted in Rob moving into the areas of company strategy formulation and business modelling for a period.
On joining Optiscan, Rob took on the role of an optical engineer. He was later assigned the role of Optical Core Competency Manager before being promoted to R&D Manager.
Rob has a Bachelor of Engineering in electronics and a PhD in Photonics.
