
John joined Optiscan in July 2001. He started his career as a veterinarian in rural Victoria and then spent time in developing countries in SE Asia and the Middle East as a veterinarian on rural technology transfer projects and as a consultant to the international Food and Agriculture Organization. John then returned to Australia and took up a position as Assistant Director of the Victorian Institute of Animal Science.
In 1995 John was appointed Director of Research at Victoria University where he was responsible for securing R&D funding and for patenting and licensing of the university’s IP. In 1999, John moved to the Pig Research Development Corporation in Canberra as Commercial Program Manager. John left PRDC at the end of his contract and took up his present position at Optiscan.
John has an honours degree in veterinary science, a PhD in biochemistry, MBA and a graduate diploma in IP law.
