Carl Zeiss Meditec
OptiScan’s Confocal Imaging Technology can be customised for specific medical applications, such as the ZEISS CONVIVO™, which is the result of a close collaboration with Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, that has brought OptiScan’s technology into the field of Neurosurgery.
More information relating specifically to the ZEISS CONVIVO™ can be found here.
Introduced in 2006, and utilising OptiScan’s first generation confocal scanning technology, the Pentax ISC-1000 embedded OptiScan Scanners within a Pentax flexible endoscope. With 100+ systems sold worldwide, the system has been used in many thousands of procedures, resulting in hundreds of published clinical studies in the field of gastrointestinal (GI) endomicroscopy. This pioneering product ultimately led to the American Medical Association (US AMA) granting 3 category 1 CPT (current procedure terminology) codes for endomicroscopy. Such codes represent acknowledgement of the use of endomicroscopy as a formal medical procedure and are the required basis for reimbursement for clinicians using the technology. OptiScan’s technology has set the standard for those procedures and has been well differentiated from other variants as the only form of endomicroscopy with supporting Level 1 evidence.
