Optiscan has been featured in The Armchair Analyst, with surgeon and ASX investor “Surgeon Dan” providing an in-depth review of the company’s real-time microscopic imaging technology and its potential to address one of the key challenges in cancer surgery: determining whether all cancerous tissue has been removed.

The article highlights Optiscan’s InVue surgical imaging and InForm digital pathology platforms, which enable slide-free cellular imaging in real time and could provide surgeons and pathologists with faster information on surgical margins while the patient is still in theatre. It also discusses the company’s upcoming US FDA submissions, clinical collaborations with Mayo Clinic, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Australian Clinical Labs, its developing reimbursement pathways, and the commercial opportunity for the technology across multiple cancer types and surgical specialties.

Surgeon Dan said: “Whenever I talk to one of my colleagues about the product, I can see their eyes sparkle as they think about how it could improve their dissection, surgical outcomes and workflow.”

The article concludes that while regulatory approval and commercial execution remain important milestones, Optiscan’s technology addresses a significant unmet clinical need and could fundamentally change how surgeons assess tissue during cancer surgery.
