Optiscan has been featured in a special report highlighting the extension of its collaboration with Mayo Clinic to advance an integrated endomicroscopic imaging system for robotic-assisted surgery, following the successful completion of key engineering and development milestones.
The article notes that the collaboration has progressed from concept development, feasibility assessments and prototype development toward preclinical testing, with work demonstrating the feasibility of integrating Optiscan’s real-time microscopic imaging technology into robotic surgical visualisation systems. The partnership aims to enable live cellular-level imaging during robotic procedures to support greater surgical precision and more informed intraoperative decision-making.
The agreement has been extended by three months to support further strategic, clinical and commercial planning, with robotic-assisted breast cancer surgery identified as the first potential application, subject to standard approvals. The report also highlights the significant commercial opportunity presented by the rapidly growing US robotic surgery market.
CEO and Managing Director Dr Camile Farah said: “Working with Mayo Clinic has combined clinical insight with engineering expertise to accelerate development of an imaging solution for robotic-assisted surgery designed to support greater precision and more informed intraoperative decision-making.”
